Description:
Greatly appreciated even by WIKING founder Fritz Peltzer, this classic was decked out with a maximum amount of chrome. The rich, dark green body boasts the understatement of the early fifties. Also contributing to the noble appeal of the 1:87-scale model of this vehicle from Rüsselsheim is its typical chrome exterior. Most WIKING friends will still remember the year 1977, when the Opel Kapitän '51 created somewhat of a signalling effect for the entire product range. The traditional model makers unveiled the Opel limousine as a "veteran" novelty, presenting a passenger vehicle that was to leave its distinctive mark on an era - two years after the onset of their proclaimed offensive of classic vehicles. The 1951 shape of the Opel Kapitän was selected deliberately by WIKING founder Fritz Peltzer. Its real-life brother came off as more sublime thanks to its increased chrome ornamental trim. Particularly striking: The rear wheels were now partially concealed, and the 58 hp Rüsselsheim flagship model finally came with an undivided rear window. From March 1951 to July 1953, a total of 48,587 vehicles of the man-high original rolled off the production belts. Body dark green with clear coat finishing, chassis and bumpers aluminium silver. Interior light grey. Imprint of ornamental strips on the radiator grille as well as the sides with negative relief Kapitän lettering. Also, front screen with silver frame and fenders with imprinted ornamental trim. White wall tyres with silver hubcaps. UPC: 4006190110488
