Round hood was tremendously popular during the reconstruction years after the war. The organic design of that decade reflected the spirit of the time – and the round hood was part of it. And yet, its bicolour design also managed to stand out and add a splash of colour to the daily grind of the nineteen fifties. The Magirus-Deutz round hood with short wheel base and tipper was one of the main drivers of Germany’s Economic Miracle – as a dependable helper with the daily hard work at the construction site. It was mostly small construction businesses that relied on this compact tipper and came to appreciate this air-cooled howler from Ulm. WIKING has revamped the Magirus-Deutz round hood with a new chassis and a new flatbed. The flatbed can, naturally, be set upright, causing the freely swinging tailgate to open automatically.
