Efficiency during operation in the field requires a great amount of fine tuning - also when it comes to distributing the hefty ballast. After all, extra weight will cost extra fuel. To accommodate for that, WIKING has crafted a faithful 1:32 miniature of the ballast weights used for the Xerion series. Given its extensive range of applications, It was vital for the Xerion series to come with ballast weights - either hooked in or stacked at the rear. They boost tractive performance in day-to-day use. Thanks to the flexible ballast weight options, ballasting the Xerion as needed for the job is straightforward and precise. The 400 kg slabs can be mounted in a cinch and fixed in place securely with the quick-release fastener. Following the simple motto of “as much as necessary, and as little as possible”, the need for ballasting on the field drops with the increase in travel speed. Claas recommends that the wheel slip not exceed 6% during operation on the field, as the ballasting effect on the tractor would otherwise be too great. Proper ballasting consequently improves efficiency. The front of the Xerion can be ballasted with up to 3,400 kg. The base weight of the original is 1,800 kg and can support up to four 400 kg slabs. The ballast is available for the front power lifter or as a permanently installed version. The rear of the Xerion can also be weighed down with a ballast of 3,400 kg. Weighing 200 kg, a permanently installed base plate can accommodate eight slabs, each weighing 400 kg. They can be mounted and dismounted effortlessly with the help of a telescopic, wheel or front loader.

WIKING puts intricate detail and filigree functionality front and centre with this add-on kit. Just as in the prototype, a base weight is intended for front ballasting and designed for installation on the power lifter. It can be upgraded by adding the corresponding partial weights and - last, but not least - by outfitting it with a lifting eye. Included for ballasting the rear is a base plate that is designed for the surface of the superstructure and can also be used for stacking the individual weights. All in all, the Xerion ballast set is composed of a front ballast weight, a base weight for ballasting the rear and ten individual weights plus three lifting eyes.
