Description:
DKW (Das Kleine Wunder), the little wonder: faster going uphill than others going downhill DKW was one of the major post-war brands that epitomised the new auto mobility - also on the 1:87 scale. The two-stroke vehicles, which filled the roads in Germany at the time with blue exhaust smoke, were too ubiquitous to be ignored by WIKING founder Friedrich Peltzer. Staying true to the company’s slogan “DKW: the Little Wonder: faster going uphill than others going downhill”, the WIKING 1:87 scale miniature brought perfect rolling characteristics to the kitchen table. The F 89, which later earned distinction as the DKW master class, came to be known as one of WIKING’s début models. Initially released as an unglazed version, the DKW later managed to occupy a prominent spot in WIKING’s glazed era as well. In the seventies, Fritz Peltzer paid tribute to the master class and made it part of the highly popular veteran series. As a matter of fact, the F 89 was the first passenger car from DKW after the war that featured the body of the pre-war F9 slated for 1940, but still concealed the chassis of the F8 under the steel sheet bodywork. Body and chassis green metallic with clear coat finishing, interior pale brown. Wheel rims and bumpers painted silver. Window frames, door handles, stone chip protection, grille ribs and DKW logo painted silver. Rear silver tank supports and ornamental strips with tailgate lock and DKW logo. UPC: 4006190122030
