At the time, the Ford Transit panorama bus was intended to be the response to its direct competitor, the samba bus version of the VW T1. If you look closely at the WIKING model, you will be able to make out the type designation “Taunus Transit” on the panorama bus. A moniker that actually makes perfect sense given the fact that the transporter benefited from the 55 hp engine used in the Taunus 15M since 1958. Before the first transit generation was abandoned in 1965, minibus buyers looking for convenience could opt for the "panorama" version and were not disappointed with the visually appealing exterior.
